De Textielarbeider served as the official newsletter of the Belgian Textile Federation, but also aimed to expose abuses in the sector and recruit new members. Its tone was often particularly sharp and militant. The magazine was effectively the successor to De Vlasbewerker , which served a similar purpose, but only for workers in the flax industry.
The magazine was published from 1905 to 1926. However, the years 1905 and 1906 (the first two volumes) have been lost. At the outbreak of the First World War, publication was temporarily halted, not resuming until 1923. In 1905 and 1906, the magazine appeared monthly, but from 1907 onward, a new edition was published every two weeks.
The Textile Worker was digitized with the support of the Jules Deconinck Fund and the ABVV Textiles, Clothing and Diamonds. The files were made full-text searchable using OCR.
