Rediscovery of two forgotten photography pioneers

Studio Stone sheds new light on the work of Cami and Sasha Stone , a photographic duo who made their name in the 1920s and 1930s with modern advertising, architecture, and portrait photography. Their images appeared in leading magazines and exhibitions from Berlin to Brussels. In their heyday, they were compared to big names like Kertész, Krull, Moholy-Nagy, and Man Ray, but after World War II, they largely disappeared from view.

Amsab-ISG and the Musée de la Photographie collaborated to re-expose their work. The catalog presents over 170 original prints from the Amsab-ISG collection, supplemented with archival documents, posters, and magazines from Belgian and German institutions. With contributions from specialists in photography, literature, history, and politics, the book places the Stones' work within a broad historical and artistic context. The catalog contains over 200 pages and is available through our webshop .

Les Rencontres d'Arles: an international platform for photography

The accompanying book prizes recognize publications that offer innovative insights into the photographic medium. The Prix du livre historique focuses on publications that place photographic work within a historical context.
