Are you a researcher specializing in contemporary social history with a focus on environmental movements? Do you enjoy working in an environment where you can combine research with societal impact? Then this job might be for you.
Amsab-ISG is looking for a research associate (full-time, 12 months with a possible extension, starting September 1, 2025) to join our small but diverse research team. Your responsibilities will be varied: from organizing workshops and participating in advisory committees to processing research results and writing encyclopedic texts.
Your assignment
- Research into the history of environmental activism in Flanders and beyond
- Processing the research results into structured data for inclusion in a knowledge center
- Participation in networks and conferences on ecological history
- Support for collection and public outreach activities related to the history of the environmental movement
- Support for research into the labor movement, migrant organizations and other social movements
- Following up on information requests regarding the history of social movements
- Preparing project proposals
Your profile
- You have a master's degree in history or a related degree in the humanities.
- You are interested in contemporary social history and emancipatory movements.
- You have expertise in the history of environmental activism in Flanders and beyond.
- You write fluently and can convert complex data into concise and accessible texts.
- You can work in a team and participate constructively in consultations.
- You are open, tolerant and free from prejudices and pre-digested ideas.
- You are original, creative and can think outside the box.
- You can handle content management systems and databases.
- You speak and write fluent Dutch and English, and have knowledge of French. Other language skills are a plus.
- Work experience is a plus, but not required.
- You are available from September 1, 2025.
