After a successful exhibition at the Musée de la Photographie in Charleroi, their groundbreaking work is now on display in our public space in Ghent. Admission is free.

"Brigadistas from Belgium"  will be presented in the public area of ​​Amsab-ISG . This website contains biographical information on more than two thousand volunteers who served in the Spanish Civil War between 1936 and 1939. The database was compiled by researchers Rudi Van Doorslaer and François Van Pelt using unique information from Spanish and Russian collections, among others.

This workshop is full – registration is no longer possible.

Historian Neslihan Doğan and photographer Çiğdem Yüksel conversed at De Expeditie during El Ghorba Talk . They discussed their passion and mission: making the first generation of Turkish women in Belgium and the Netherlands visible in migration history. They also emphasized the importance of archiving these stories.

The exhibition Chilean Popular Resistance with Needle and Thread showcased the work of women of missing prisoners under the Pinochet regime, who depicted their lives and traumas by embroidering colorful arpilleras .

DHKD: 40 Years on the Barricades for Minorities," in collaboration with STAM and Amsab-ISG.

"A Story of Rights in Embroidery" was on display at St. Nicholas' Church , featuring embroidered stories of Syrian women living in the Shatila refugee camp. This exhibition was the result of a collaboration between Amnesty International Ghent region, the School of Arts/HOGENT, the Human Rights Research Network, Justice Visions, and Amsab-ISG.

The exhibition Embroidered Past, Imagined Future in Congo at Amsab-ISG offered an impressive overview of the work of Congolese artist Lucie Kamuswekera, who depicts Congo's turbulent history with her embroidery.

Amsab-ISG - Ghent On January 3, 1972, woodcarver and printmaker Frans Masereel passed away. To mark the 50th anniversary of his death, Amsab-ISG and the MSK are delving  into their collections for a warm tribute to Masereel and the friendships he fostered during his rich career.
