Pioneers of modern photography
In the 1920s and 1930s, Cami and Sasha Stone played a prominent role in the artistic world. Their work appeared in leading magazines and was shown in exhibitions from Berlin to Brussels.
Their studio – Studio Stone – specialized in advertising, architecture, art, and portrait photography . Their groundbreaking style earned them widespread critical acclaim. In their heyday, they were compared to photographers like André Kertész, Germaine Krull, László Moholy-Nagy , and Man Ray .
Yet, after World War II, they largely disappeared from view. Until now.

This exhibition showcases a selection of Cami and Sasha Stone's best work from Amsab-ISG's own collection . You'll discover, among other things:

From Charleroi to Ghent: a traveling exhibition
Earlier this year, an expanded version of this exhibition was on display at the Musée de la Photographie in Charleroi, in collaboration with Amsab-ISG. The Ghent edition is smaller in scale but focuses on highlights from our own collection, which includes more than 170 original prints, documents, and posters by the duo.

The catalog was nominated for the prestigious award for best historical publication at Les Rencontres de la Photographie 2025 in Arles. This shortlist recognizes photobooks that stand out for their content, vision, and design, and is considered one of the most important awards in the international photography world.
