De Vrouw formulated several demands: equal pay for equal work and the admission of women to all professions, public positions, and legislative bodies; no distinction in education for boys and girls; the abolition of all laws that label women inferior to men; paternity testing; and an end to war. Furthermore, the magazine advocated and distributed tips on birth control.

The magazine appeared biweekly from July 15, 1893 to September 1, 1900.
