Wegwijs/En Route is the magazine for truckers, or the Road Transport & Logistics sector of the Belgian Transport Workers' Union (BTB). It has been published since 1988 and is now available online.

Wegwijs/En Route presents unique testimonials about life and work on the road and in warehouses, including all the problems and abuses that exist in the sector. Road safety, European directives, speedometer discs, and Eastern European road users... It's all covered in this colorful and beautifully illustrated magazine. Amsab-ISG has digitized the collection and made it available online. This is the only place where the magazine is available to the public, so we can rightly say that a unique piece of heritage has been added to our collection.

The private transport industry is one of the sectors particularly subject to constant technological change. While Karel Van Isacker could have caused a stir in 1963 with a study on dockworkers, half a century later he would probably have written more about truckers or truck drivers. Road transport has boomed since the advent of trucks between 1930 and 1960, and especially the massive construction of European highways in the 1970s and 1980s.

This evolution has not gone unnoticed by the unions. Within the socialist Belgian Transport Workers' Union (BTB), for generations predominantly supported by Antwerp dockworkers, the Road Transport & Logistics sector has become the largest for some time. Since 1988, it has published its own journal, the obvious title Wegwijs (and its French-language counterpart En Route ).

Wegwijs and En Route collections are complete with the exception of two issues and have been made full-text searchable using OCR. From 2012 onwards, you can consult a paper version in the Amsab-ISG reading room.
