Collection on the road

As a cultural archive, Amsab-ISG holds a valuable museum collection, which is regularly used for loans, both domestically and internationally.

Such loans enhance the visibility of our collection and broaden its audience reach. They also offer the opportunity to present pieces in a new context—through surprising perspectives and in collaboration with unexpected partners. This not only increases the collection's awareness among the public and organizers but also strengthens ties with other heritage institutions.

The exhibition "Histoire de ne pas rire. Surrealism in Belgium"  runs until June 16, 2024, at Bozar. Amsab-ISG loaned numerous works for this exhibition.

Bozar celebrated 100 years of Surrealism with an exhibition exploring the famous avant-garde movement in Belgium over a period of no less than 60 years. 1924: just as in Paris, Surrealist activities in Belgium also began with daring pamphlets by artists like poet Paul Nougé, the guiding principle of this exhibition. The unconventional Surrealists in Belgium transcended the purely aesthetic – they aimed to transform the world with their subversive art. In "Histoire de ne pas rire," the exhibition focused on their international contacts, their political and historical background, and important female artists.
