Amsab-ISG has been archiving social media for several years and is also a partner in the project " Best practices for archiving social media in Flanders and Brussels ," carried out by colleagues from KADOC and meemoo. We are now asking for your input for this project!

For several years now, research has been underway into a new type of resource: social media. We've noticed that a significant portion of the communication from our archive creators and heritage community has shifted from paper to the digital, online space, and we want to anticipate this by preserving this type of material. We already have a relatively good understanding of the technical possibilities for archiving such data; the next logical step is to examine the requirements for unlocking and consulting these resources. To organize the future consultation of this information, we are gathering input on how best to do so.

The survey below takes about 7 minutes to complete and explores the expectations of (potential) users regarding archived social media posts. It addresses several aspects specific to this type of information: Which elements of a post should be made accessible? Is the visual context important? What about the numerous peripheral elements such as comments and reposts? Completion is completely anonymous. It helps us and the partners in the project " Best practices for archiving social media in Flanders and Brussels " to supplement your search query in the future with a specific Twitter post or Facebook timeline.
