On Monday, May 13, the Belgian Association for Contemporary History (BVNG) is organizing its biennial study day, "Day of Contemporary History," in Brussels. This year's theme is the history of subaltern groups. Amsab-ISG is participating in this topic with a session on LGBTI+ in its collection.

Vital Stichelbaut is delving deeper into his educational master's thesis on how to address controversial topics in secondary education through heritage. Specifically, he is developing a curriculum on homosexuality based on the archives of the Rooie Vlinder, a Belgian socialist activist group for the liberation of homosexuality (1976-1981), which is held at Amsab-ISG.

This will be followed by a roundtable discussion. History teacher Joris Van Doorsselaere, legal expert and educational expert Naïma Lafrachi, and participation advisor Hildegarde van Genechten from Faro will participate. They will share their experiences dealing with controversial topics in heritage-related education.
