Bozar celebrates 100 years of Surrealism with an exhibition exploring the famous avant-garde movement in Belgium over a period of no less than 60 years. 1924: just as in Paris, Surrealist activities in Belgium also began with daring pamphlets by artists like poet Paul Nougé, the guiding principle of this exhibition. The unconventional Surrealists in Belgium transcended the purely aesthetic – they sought to transform the world with their subversive art. In Histoire de ne pas rire, we pay special attention to their international contacts, their political and historical background, and important female artists.
Above we show some pieces from the Amsab-ISG collection.
