IASSC is an international network for research on the history of strikes and other social conflicts. The network was founded in 2011 during an international conference in Lisbon, co-chaired by Raquel Valera (NOVA University Lisbon) and Sjaak van der Velden (IISG, Amsterdam).

The new network soon included some thirty research institutes, including Amsab-ISG, and was very active in the early years, with an annual international conference, publications of papers and articles in scientific journals, and soon its own journal, Workers of the World.

After 2016, there was a brief slump, but last year the network made a fresh start. Another conference was held in Rotterdam, the magazine Workers of the World was relaunched with its own website, and the board was renewed. Geert Van Goethem, who had already served on the IASSC board for Amsab-ISG for several years, was replaced this year by Donald Weber.

IASSC recently launched a new website. Amsab-ISG created the website and hosts it at https://iassc.amsab.be .
