We regret to learn of the passing of Prof. José Gotovitch, who also meant a great deal to Amsab-ISG.

José Gotovitch was a historian, professor at the ULB, director of the Research and Study Centre for the History of the Second World War (now CegeSoma) and co-founder and scientific director of CArCoB.

In 2018, Paule Verbruggen, director of Amsab-ISG, and Kim Descheemaeker, a researcher at Liberas, conducted a long interview with him about his childhood and the harsh war years. You can read the resulting article here . It complemented an article Kim Descheemaeker wrote about Huidevettersstraat in Brussels, where José lived for over 20 years.

With deep respect for who he was and what he achieved. And with our sincere condolences to his family and all who worked with him.
