Job description

Are you enthusiastic about creating engaging programming? Do you enjoy designing participatory projects? Can you translate history into digital media and engaging learning tools? Then we might be colleagues!

Become part of the Amsab Institute for Social History

Amsab-ISG is the memory of social movements and committed individuals who are fighting injustice and inequality. In their quest for equality, sustainability, and a better quality of life, themes such as labor, the environment, migration, gender, human rights, and global justice are central.

As a recognized cultural archive, we guarantee the professional and sustainable care of the heritage of these organizations and citizens. Our priority is preserving, protecting, and making this heritage accessible. Through research and public initiatives, we bring their often invisible, hidden histories to light. We do this in ongoing dialogue and in collaboration with our heritage communities, professional partners, and volunteers.

In this way, we aim to be the link between the heritage communities we represent and the general public. By sharing knowledge and insights, we can inspire and strengthen organizations and citizens, provide context and nuance, and thus encourage dialogue and debate.

Because we believe that diverse teams work better, we encourage everyone to apply regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, or physical abilities.

Varied and interesting range of tasks

  • Together with your colleagues, you will create a program that is relevant and impactful for our collection, appealing to diverse audiences.
  • You devise and supervise participatory and educational processes.
  • In addition to organizing in-person activities, you'll also be active digitally. You'll contribute to the development of a digital learning platform. You'll be responsible for developing educational content and creating scenarios and tools for digital storytelling.
  • You build a network and maintain good contacts with stakeholders, partners, associations and volunteers.
  • You will be responsible for the logistical follow-up of public and educational activities.

Your profile

As a public relations officer, you'll follow the established policy and action plans. You'll be specifically responsible for digital storytelling and educational content.

  • You have a master's degree, equivalent education or equivalent through experience.
  • You have demonstrable knowledge of and affinity for the broad field of cultural heritage and an understanding of the themes in the Amsab-ISG collection.
  • You have demonstrable experience in public outreach and/or education. Keeping up-to-date on recent educational developments is a plus.
  • You feel like a fish in water when you can plan and organize, whether it concerns public events, storytelling (digital storytelling) or developing teaching materials.
  • You take editorial responsibility and can therefore communicate fluently, clearly, and flawlessly in Dutch, both written and spoken. A good knowledge of common word processing programs and presentation tools is a plus.
  • You work accurately, efficiently and monitor the agreed deadlines.
  • You are empathetic, collegial and continuously encourage consultation between all parties involved.
  • You are familiar (or willing to become familiar) with submitting grant applications.
  • You are a team player, but can also work independently.
  • You are flexible and willing to work (sporadically) evenings and weekends.

Our offer

  • A challenging and varied job in an organization where you get the opportunity to further develop your skills.
  • A maximum of 3 years of relevant experience can be entered for the calculation of seniority.
  • The gross starting salary corresponds to salary scale L1 (PC 329.01). Fringe benefits such as group insurance, meal vouchers, and commuting allowance are included.
