On Thursday, February 27, 2025, the Centre for the History of Migrants (CGM) is organizing its annual study day in Leuven, this time with the theme Female labor migration in the Low Countries .

CGM

CGM is a network of Dutch and Belgian institutions focusing on migration history. In addition to Radboud University Nijmegen and the International Institute of Social History, members for Flanders include Amsab-ISG and KADOC-KU Leuven. This year's annual study day is hosted by the latter and is organized in collaboration with the European FeMigLab project .

The study day will explore the experiences of female migrant workers in Belgium and the Netherlands, both from the past and present.

The program uses a broad definition of labor: not only paid work, but also unpaid labor and activities within the informal economy are addressed. The seminar offers a platform to share stories, research, and practical examples that bring this often-underexposed topic to life.

In addition to traditional presentations, a poster session will also be organized where students, researchers, heritage professionals, and policymakers can discuss ongoing projects. Are you conducting research, do you have a project or insights that fit within this theme? Or do you know someone who could make a valuable contribution? CGM warmly invites you to register via the link below.
