Discover the new educational collections at The Education Archives, featuring historical audiovisual material, including excerpts from our archives. With an inspiring teaching framework and helpful visual aids, young people can learn how to critically examine historical images.

The past finds its way into the present in all sorts of ways: think of old letters, books, or video clips. But how do you view or listen to historical fragments with focus and criticalness? And how do you know if this information is useful, reliable, and/or accurate? How different is the past from the present? Assessing and determining all this isn't easy for teenagers.

By using audiovisual historical sources, teachers can foster critical thinking and historical awareness in their students. This new teaching material was developed by the teacher training programs of Artevelde University College in collaboration with the Education Archives for teachers in the third year of primary or secondary education.
