The first episode explores the world of glass slides . From gelatin emulsions to semi-biographies in the margins: the unique images on thousands of glass slides reveal a wealth of information. They cover the knowledge, sciences, customs, cultural differences, folklore, and Flemish life of the past. You'll hear all the fascinating details from experts from Amsab-ISG, the Fotomuseum, Ghent University, FelixArchief, MAS, and Den AST.
The second episode, along with several Flemish experts, delves into the fragile newspapers of yesteryear. With each page turn, you're increasingly amazed at what the world looked like roughly 150 years ago. Experts from Amsab-ISG, Ghent University, KADOC, Bruges Public Library, Hasselt Library, Hendrik Conscience Heritage Library, KU Leuven, and ADVN will explain in detail why some newspapers are no longer in existence, why ink corrosion poses a threat to old newspapers, and how newspapers are the birthplace of many famous comic strip characters.
There will be two more episodes after this that delve deeper into masterpieces and metadata.
