The Van Ackerstichting awards a prize every three years to an artist or organization with a significant commitment. The prize was recently awarded to Ish Ait Hamou, Lieve Blanquaert, Daan Stuyven, Marleen Temmerman, the Dardenne brothers, and more recently to the Auschwitz Foundation, Hugo Claus, Frans Masereel, and Louis Paul Boon.

This year's award goes to Mieke Dobbels. She works as a curator at Westfront in Nieuwpoort. Mieke is best known as an actress with Compagnie Cecilia and co-author of "The Broken Circle Breakdown." She is also the author of children's books that make themes like autism and ADHD understandable for children diagnosed with them.
To commemorate the award ceremony, Mieke, along with Sebastien Dewaele, Pieter Verbiest, and Johannes Verschaeve, will perform the play "Andy and Karolien." The laudation will be delivered by Maaike Cafmeyer. Mieke will receive the award from André Van Nieuwkerke, chairman of the Van Acker Foundation.
